Messages of love and respect are taking over Twitter following the news that video game developer, Brad McQuaid, has sadly lost his life.

The news was announced on Twitter by Pantheon: Rise Of The Fallen, the MMO that McQuaid was most recently working on. The team writes: “It is with deep regret we share that Brad McQuaid passed away last night. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by gamers worldwide.

“Thank you for bringing us together through your worlds. Rest in peace @Aradune.VR offers our deepest condolences to Brad’s family.”

Sentiments and respects are now being paid by gamers and game devs alike, with the official EverQuest account also sharing a heartfelt goodbye.

“From the EverQuest Teams, We are devastated to hear of the passing of Brad McQuaid and are eternally grateful for the EverQuest Universe he was instrumental in creating,” tweeted the team.

EverQuest fans have also been paying their respects to the 51-year-old.

One user tweeted: “RIP and ty for creating a game that myself and some of my best friends continue to go back and play over and over again. Norrath will always be such a big part of our lives and we had you to thank @Aradune . Rest easy friend.”

One particularly emotional message comes from the user below, who writes: “I owe everything that’s good in my life to Brad McQuaid. EQ helped me beat my drug and alcohol addictions and access to friends during my darkest days.

“I owe him my wife, my life and my eternal gratitude.
My only regret was that ‘soonish’ never came so I could thank him in person”

It has not been revealed how McQuaid lost his life.
