Well, once word gets around that you're selling "tea" that is really marijuana...

I don't get it, either. That's the kind of expensive boutique that only does well in an area with either a lot of affluent people or a lot of tourists. Working-class locals might shop in such a place occasionally for a gift or a special treat, or something really minor like a lip balm, but I don't really believe Jocelyn as the sort of person who pays $10 for applesauce, and they don't seem to have enough traffic to make enough small purchases to add up to livable earnings. Maybe if the building is part of what owning the town means, so they don't have to pay rent? I wish we ever knew what the Roses actually own. 

Although David does still live at the motel for free. Maybe Patrick is secretly independently wealthy. He didn't think very long about giving up his job to join this risky enterprise with a flaky partner.
