Jose Enrique has backed Liverpool to secure the transfer of Southampton’s sought-after star Romeo Lavia by claiming that ‘Jurgen Klopp can help him a lot’.

The former Liverpool left-back was reacting on Instagram to Fabrizio Romano’s claim that the Reds ‘continue to work’ on a deal for the 19-year-old and they are hoping Southampton ‘lower the £50 million asking price’, as reported by CaughtOffside.

Romeo Lavia, who was on Manchester City’s books, suffered relegation with the Saints last season, and as of this moment, he is preparing for life in the Championship.

Many will feel, a player of his quality and hype shouldn’t be in England’s second-tier because, even last season, he was a standout for his struggling side.

But, at the end of the day, he shouldn’t be in a rush to leave because he is only a teenager and there is a lot of development left in his tank.

Saying that, if a deal could be struck with those from Anfield, then he would be making a serious leap forward in career, with Enrique posting the following message in the comments section of LFC Fanagram’s IG post, when sharing the update on Lavia from Romano.

“Very young,” said Enrique. “But very talented player. I really like him and Klopp can help him a lot.”

Fabinho and Henderson leaving

Whilst Lavia would be a top, top purchase for Liverpool and someone that would get a great football education under Klopp, at the end of the day, if they lose Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, then they need to fish in a bigger pond.

That experience and know-how will be a massive, massive miss and it can’t be replaced by a teenager, plus Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool would have to go again in the market and possibly bring in someone with top-tier and Champions League experience.
