An Ann Arbor man suspected of stealing $1,500 in alcohol was apprehended after leading multiple law enforcement agencies on a chase through Wood and Lucas counties and into Michigan.

Bowling Green police were called to Kroger on North Main Street at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a subject stealing from the liquor store.

Bowling Green Police Division officers reportedly first observed the U-Haul involved in the theft at the intersection of Poe Road and North Main Street. The pursuit continued onto Dunbridge Road, East Wooster Street and southbound Interstate 75.

The driver of the U-Haul made an illegal U-turn and headed northbound on I-75 to Interstate 475, Ohio 23 and into Michigan.

“At that point, we terminated the pursuit,” said Bowling Green Police Division Lt. Adam Skaff.

BGPD, the Wood County and Lucas County sheriff’s departments as well as the Ohio State Highway Patrol participated in the pursuit, Skaff said.

The Michigan Highway Patrol forcibly stopped the U-Haul at 8:19 p.m.

Skaff said BGPD is in the process of filing charges of felony theft and felony fleeing and eluding against Christopher Harris II, 54.

Harris reportedly took $1,500 in alcohol from Kroger, Skaff said.
