Agent says Liverpool could lose their 'little Messi' in 2024 as 'most clubs want him'

‘Many clubs’ in Poland are looking to sign Liverpool’s Premier League 2 starlet Mateusz Musialowski but his agent thinks the starlet would be better off in the Netherlands or Belgium.

At the age of 20, his contract expiring, and without even a sniff of first-team football under Jurgen Klopp, Mateusz Musialowski appears to be rapidly approaching decision time at Anfield.

The Poland U21 international will be a free-agent in the summer of 2024 as things stand. And despite a string of superb performances for Liverpool at youth level – the twinkle-toed forward has six goals and two assists this season – opportunities in the senior set up remain conspicuous by their absence.

As such, Musialowski’s agent is not ruling out a departure either in January or July, though he has reservations about a return to Eastern Europe for the Katowice-born talent.

Liverpool could lose Mateusz Musialowski

“We signed a contract with the condition that I would not persuade him to return to Poland. And I don’t want to persuade him to return to Poland, but he has the most offers from his homeland. Most clubs want him,” Cezary Kucharski tells Przeglad Sportowy.

“I think he should go to the Netherlands, Belgium, or maybe Switzerland.

Kucharski is not ruling out Liverpool offering his client a contract extension. But with Mo Salah, Harvey Elliott, Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Luis Diaz and co all ahead of him in the pecking order, one of the most naturally-talented youngsters in Liverpool’s ranks may prefer to take his Messi-esque talents elsewhere.

‘Little Messi’

“I have seen a few bits of him on YouTube,” Jerzy Dudek the former Liverpool and Poland goalkeeper, The Echo. “He is a very talented player. Very skilful. Little Messi.

“Let’s hope he’s going to make it. He has got great potential, but he needs to stay focused and out of the media. This can always be distracting, but he has smart people around him and the club can help him too.

“Some players take this as an opportunity to be bigger and they feel better with this (Messi) nickname. “It is always nice if someone can say you are more or like a young Messi. This is a big compliment. It tells you everything about (Musialowski’s) talent.”
